Imphal, June 8:

Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) took a significant step towards environmental conservation by organizing a “Mass Tree Plantation Drive” under the theme “Let’s make Manipur green.” This environment-friendly campaign aimed to promote interconnectivity between humans, nature, and the natural environment, emphasizing the importance of trees as sources of oxygen and habitats for many animals.
The tree plantation drive took place at various locations in Imphal East district, including Nungdum Nungnaobi and Kalika (Nongmaiching range, Central Forest Division) today. Hundreds of saplings were planted during the event, symbolizing the collective effort to enhance Manipur’s green cover and preserve its natural beauty.
Highlighting the significance of sustainable environmental practices, the campaign emphasized the importance of water bodies, as mentioned in old Meitei texts like Tutenglon. These texts underscore the integral role of water bodies in maintaining ecological balance and sustaining life in Manipur.
In a statement released by Hijam Roshan, President of the Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF), the organization reiterated its commitment to environmental conservation and urged the community to actively participate in such initiatives. By planting trees and promoting awareness about environmental sustainability, the MSF aims to foster a greener and healthier future for Manipur.
