Imphal, June 28:

The Kshetrimayum Yaima Memorial Trust (KYMT), Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai, Imphal, has extended financial support to differently-abled Shagolshem Abungo (17 years) of Andro Makha Leikai. The Trust has provided financial assistance of 10 thousand rupees along with eatables.
KYMT’s President, Dr. Kshetrimayum Subadani, led the initiative, accompanied by Trust Secretary Rakesh Naorem, Vice President Kshetrimayum Sumati, Finance Secretary Khomdram Yaiphaba, and members Khomdram Dorendro, L. Memo, Dr. Laisharm Landhoni, Dr. RK Indira, and Naorem Romila.
During the aid distribution, Dr. Subadani remarked, “In Andro, we have come across a young person facing significant challenges. It is our duty to extend support.” Trust Secretary Rakesh Naorem added, “This aid represents our commitment to assist Shagolshem Abungo and his family in their time of need.”
Abungo, who faces multiple disabilities, lives with his parents Shagolshem Panchom and Kunjeshwari and three siblings. The family struggles daily, compounded by their lack of a proper house and essential documents like Aadhaar, which hinders access to government aid.
The Trust emphasized the urgent need for the Social Welfare Department’s intervention. “We request the Social Welfare Department to expedite support for Abungo and other similarly disadvantaged individuals,” Rakesh Naorem urged.
The press release also highlighted a previous initiative where Social Welfare Department Director Ngangom Uttam, responding to a report by Rakesh Naorem, provided a wheelchair to Abungo. The department is committed to further assistance, including ensuring Abungo receives ongoing support through relevant schemes.
Director Uttam commented, “We will process necessary documents for Abungo and enroll him in the Chief Minister’s Relief Scheme, providing Rs. 1,500 monthly assistance.” He assured the family that efforts are underway to secure all required documentation and support.
