HRA mourns the passing of Aheibam Biren

Human Rights Alert (HRA) has expressed sorrow over the demise of Aheibam Biren, affectionately known as “Biren Lamba,” who recently passed away. A Biren’s departure has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he served, according to HRA.
According to HRA, Asem Biren, revered for his remarkable intellect and cultural insight, was hailed for his ability to bridge traditional indigenous knowledge with modern scientific principles, thus contributing to Manipur’s cultural and intellectual resurgence. His dedication to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Manipur earned him admiration and respect across the region.
A notable achievement of Asem Biren was his pioneering work in translating Chinarol Puyai, a significant aspect of Manipuri culture, into the English language. This endeavor enabled Human Rights Alert (HRA) to effectively convey the depth of Meitei civilizational values within the framework of contemporary International Humanitarian Law, showcasing Manipur’s cultural heritage on the global stage.
