CCSK urges government to send security forces instead of evacuating residents

IT News
Imphal, June 9:

Jeetendra Ningomba, President of the Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK), has appealed to the government to refrain from evacuating residents from violence-stricken areas and instead deploy security personnel to protect them. He made this statement during a program organized to address health issues caused by recent flooding, held at Khwairamband Keithel Number 4.
The event was jointly organized by CCSK, Kanglei Keithel Ima Lup (KAKIL), and the Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace. During the program, Jeetendra Ningomba emphasized that evacuating people from areas of violence essentially cedes control of those areas to other groups. He argued that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the protection of its citizens by sending adequate security forces.
He also expressed concern about the potential health crisis following the recent floods in Manipur, which could lead to widespread disease. Preventive measures are being implemented with support from medical professionals from JNIMS and SIMS, who have readily agreed to assist in organizing these efforts.
The health camp offered various medical services, including dermatology, gynecology, orthopedics, medicine, ENT, blood testing, urine testing, sugar testing, and hepatitis testing. Additionally, to address the immediate needs of flood-affected areas, the distribution of bleaching powder, phenyl, and sodium chloride was organized to maintain hygiene and prevent disease outbreaks.
