Imphal, July 4:

The World Meetei Council (WMC) has made an announcement that Heigrujam Nabashyam has resigned from his position as Chairman of the council, effective March 24, 2024. His resignation follows internal issues related to the council’s constitution and its registered status.
In a statement released today by WMC, it stated that “the WMC has been already registered as the brand name of Global Meetei Foundation but Heigrujam Nabashyam, Yengkhom Dhan Kumar, Yambem Arun, and Sarat Thangjam in their respective roles as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary General, and Assistant General, have tried to register an organisation under the same name.” WMC further stated that the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East has canceled the registration they sought. Consequently, the council has no relationship with these persons, the statement added.
Their press statement also clarified that since WMC’s website, https://www.worldmeeteicouncil.com/), and email: worldmeeteicouncil@gmail.com and info@ worldmeeteicouncil.com, social media platforms such as Facebook (htpps://www.facebook.com/WorldMeeteiCouncil) and X (previously Twitter), are all still handled by these individuals.” Any information on these platforms are their individual opinions and not the organisation’s position” the statement added.
WMC has stated that “the council’s new website https:// www. worldmeeteicouncil. org and email cec@ worldmeeteicouncil. org will serve as the sole points of contact from now on.”
