Volunteers of AMSU gherao in front of MOBC office

Volunteers of the All Manipur Student’s Union (AMSU) gherao in front of the MOBC office this afternoon, demanding release of the pending scholarship for marginalized students.
The AMSU volunteers came with placards demanding release of the pending scholarship from the DMC campus. The students confronted the police team which tried to stop them.
Speaking to reporters, Bikramjit Thongam, General secy. of the AMSU said that the marginalized students belonging to the ST, SC, OBC, and others have been facing lot of problems due to the non-release of the scholarship by the MOBC. He demanded the authority to release the scholarship in the interest of the marginalized students. The student team met some authority of the MOBC and they were informed that the fund for payment of the scholarship has been released from the MOBC and that it remains pending with the Treasury. The authority also reportedly assured to clear the pending due by November 15. The students however demanded to release the pending due before November 15.
