Village Volunteer Force slams supporters of Congress

Imphal, April 22:

A group of Village Volunteer Force (VVF), Manipur, has strongly criticized those supporting the Congress party in the recently concluded first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a press meet yesterday, the group stated that backing Congress is akin to endorsing the party’s “Meitei Containment Policy.”
“In the name of democracy and secularism, it is very unfortunate that a few individuals with no love for their own community are supporting the Congress party, which is not a good thing for the Meitei community,” said a VVF spokesperson. The VVF alleged that the Congress manifesto for the 2024 polls pushes for an “Administrative Settlement in Manipur,” which is akin to compromise between narco-terrorists and the Meiteis. They claimed this would give separate administration to the Kukis, suppressing the Meiteis. Referring to INDIA bloc leader Mamata Banerjee’s statement about repealing the NRC if voted to power, the group warned that a Congress victory would lead to the withdrawal of the NRC, allowing “non-indigenous Chin-Kukis” to reside in Manipur.
The VVF further accused Kuki militants of forcing people to vote in Chin-Kuki-dominated areas, while Congress remained a mute spectator. However, it claimed Congress showed a different color to the Meiteis trying to protect their land. The group appealed against such actions in the future.
