VDF personnel request deployment along frontline

Personnel of the Village Defence Force (VDF) today appealed to the state government to deploy them to the frontlines in the ongoing fight against the heavily armed Kuki militants along the peripheries of the valley area and help save the integrity of the state. Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club today.
Laishram Deben, Advisor of All Manipur VDF Welfare Assn. expressed grief at the crisis unfolding in the state as a result of the killing and arson which followed the public rally at Churachandpur district rendering thousands of people homeless in both the hills and valley area with more than a hundred lives lost till date. Highlighting the extreme conditions and pressures under which the VDF personnel along with the IRB, police and other state security forces are working since the violence erupted on may 3, the spokesperson appealed to all concerned to unitedly work together to bring peace and normalcy to the state and announced the collective decision of the 10,500 strong VDF force comprising members of all 36 communities including Nepalis in the state to fight the Kuki militants if given proper equipments and facilities and drive them away in a few days.
