UNMM questions the future of Manipur; Discuss to uphold the Rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India

With the increase of various inhuman acts that suppressed the Rights of the common people in the state of Manipur, the United NGO Mission Manipur (UNMM) today organized a workshop under the title- “Questioning the Future of Manipur and the UN International Humanitarian Law” at Sangai Hall in Imphal Hotel.
Speaking on the occasion as resources person Human Right activist Babuloo Loitongbam stressed on the need of education in shaping the future of the nation in general and in Manipur in particular. He further said that the changing phenomenon of acquiring education through various medium has change the life of every citizen across the globe. Babuloo also highlighted on how the emergence of various technology and software that connects people to people and also its impact.
“ Today Facebook or Whatsapp has become a way to connect people and this too has been control by someone in the power to fooled the people”, Babuloo said. He further added that when one needs to look for the future of the people of Manipur we also need to look at the past.
“How were we in the past Hundred years and again in a past hundred years that is during 1822”, Babuloo said and added that during 1882 the people of Manipur were in state of war with the invasion of Burmese which we today known as seven years of devastation.
Editor of Imphal Times, Rinku Khumukcham while delivering his speech as resource person said that today’s democracy is nothing less than conducting election and waiting for election for the next term. He said that there are records of suppressing the people of North East India by enforcing various draconian laws like AFSPA and other sedition act.
“It is we ourselves that has to raise our voice to protect ourselves, no one will come to help us and we have to stand up together for our rights than expecting from others”, Rinku said adding that today the two national highways is free from bandh and blockade but replace by extortions.
