UNLF claims Lokchao attack

Imphal, May 11: Proscribed group UNLF today claims attack to Indian Security Force at Lokchao area along Imphal-Moreh route on the morning of May 8.
In a press statement the outfit said that the attack at which 2 personnel of Territorial Army 165 Bn. was killed and 2 other were made injured was carried out by Manipur Peoples’ Army (MPA), the army wing of the UNLF. It said the attack was carried out at 5.10 am as a part of revolutionary movement for restoration of the sovereignty of the region. 1 personnel of the TA died in the spot while another succumbed to his injury at the hospital. Another 2 personnel sustained serious injury. The outfit however expressed shocked about the death of the Manipuri in the attack.
The outfit further added that the India government has been deploying Manipuri people of the SF to provoke hate feeling among the people of the state. It warned the people to be aware of such malicious strategy.
It further said that the SF had poured their anger by stopping vehicles along the route. The attitude showed that the Indian army are here to suppress the people of the region, the statement added.
