The United Committee Manipur (UCM) marked its 24th Foundation Day today with a grand celebration held at its Head Office in Lamphel, Imphal. The event was graced by dignitaries and community leaders, emphasizing the organization’s pivotal role in Manipur’s socio-political landscape.
Joychandra Konthoujam, President of UCM, highlighted the central theme of internal security and the role of the central government in addressing Manipur’s challenges. He stressed that under Article 355, the central government bears the duty of ensuring internal security, suggesting that solutions must primarily come from the central government’s initiatives.
“We have observed that there is a proxy war ongoing,” stated Joychandra Konthoujam, urging the government of India to take decisive action to resolve the situation. He emphasized the importance of open dialogue among communities to address underlying agendas contributing to regional instability.

The event featured a comprehensive program including candle lighting, condolence messages, keynote addresses, and speeches by invited dignitaries. Presidium members, including leaders from various organizations such as UPF, IPSA, NIPCO, PANDAM, ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak, Kanglamei, and AMKIL, graced the occasion, underscoring their solidarity with UCM’s mission.
Participants at the celebration echoed Joychandra Konthoujam’s sentiments, calling for unified efforts towards peace and stability in Manipur. The event concluded with a note of optimism, emphasizing the collective responsibility of both the central and state governments in ensuring the welfare and security of Manipuri citizens.
