The United Committee Manipur (UCM) is always ready to face any attempt to distort the integrity of Manipur said president of UCM, Joychandra Konthoujam at the sideline of the last Tarpon offering ceremony held at Kekrupat. The Tarpon offering ceremony is organised every Langban (September) month of Meitei Lunar month as a mark of respect to the departed ancestors and martyred who had sacrificed for the integrity of Manipur.
Joychandra further said that the dream of the Kuki people for a Kuki homeland will never come true. He said that the demand for separate administration or separate state will never be possible as long as the UCM exists.  He said that the ongoing conflict is ignited by the 10 Kuki MLAs who are demanding separate administration inside the territory of Manipur. Joychandra said that inaction against the 10 MLAs by disqualifying them seems to be a sign of support by the government.  The UCM president said that if want a peace process to the ongoing crisis the Kuki should withdraw its demand for separate administration, and the government should initiate measures to drive out all the illegal migrants and introduce the NRC.
In connection with the Poppy plantation, the UCM president said that amidst the campaign against the cultivation of poppy plants in Manipur, Manipur police and NAB had seized a consignment of poppy seeds sent from Jammu and Kashmir to personnel of 19th AR at Noney. However the case has been suppressed. The UCM President also urged the authorities to resettlement of the victims of the violence by allowing them to return to their homes.
