Chandel, April 13: The Thadou Student’s Association (TSA) had submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Chandel Robert Kshetrimayum at Hengshi Village in Chandel District during his visit to Khangjoy sub-division this week.
President of Thadou Student’s Association Chandel, L. Vum Khongsai handed over the memorandum of the Association to the Deputy Commissioner for materializing the past assurances of the government into action.
The students’ body in the memorandum stated that on the day of inaugurating Khengjoy Sub-Division in 2011, Chief Minister O. Ibobi assured to the people of area to upgrade the Khengjoy Junior High School into High School besides upgrading the present PHSC to Primary Health Centre (PHC) and to made the Khengjoy Police Station fully functional.
In the memorandum, the Students body also appealed the State Government for setting up of separate Educational Block for Khengjoy Sub-Division and make every department reach out the unreached villages of Kengjoy Sub-Division among others.
Meanwhile, the Thadou Students Association (TSA) strongly condemn the acts of irresponsible behavior of the 24 Assam Rifles personnels who were on duty of frisking vehicles along the National Highway 102 at Tengnoupal-Sita junction.
Conveying their displeasure over the Assam Rifles to the media persons, James Haokip, Secretary TSA General Headquarters told that in contrast to the recent assurance given by the DIG 26 Sector Assam Rifles to the Joint Action Committee against the atrocities of Assam Rifles and Central Security forces in Chandel District at Tengnoupal village, the 24 Assam Rifles personnels unnecessarily harassed by detaining and hurling abusive words to a team of the students body and medical staff who were returning from Hengshi village after conducting a free medical camp yesterday.
He further told that the DIG assured the people of the area and the JAC members that the Assam Rifles will not harass the commuters and detained long as before by frisking vehicles of private and commercial separately besides deputing more numbers of responsible jawans for frisking vehicles. However, the action of the 24 Assam Rifles personnel who were on duty along the National Highway 102 was in sharp contrast with the assurance of the DIG which is a direct insult to people and Officers of the Assam Rifles by the jawans, said James Haokip
While maintaining the students body would not tolerate such irresponsible behavior of the Assam Rifles personnels and remained a mute spectator in future, the Students’ leader also appealed the higher authority of Assam Rifles to take up action against those undiscipline jawans and discipline them to be more civilian friendly besides deputing only responsible and literate jawans for frisking vehicles along the National Highway.
