Imphal, June 11:

Thawai Mirel has called for urgent intervention from local MLAs and Ministers to immediately halt the ongoing violence in Manipur. In a press release, Th. Dara Singh, Convenor of Thawai Mirel, criticized the state government for its heavy reliance on the central government for decision-making amid the prolonged conflict with Kuki narco-terrorists.
The statement highlighted the deteriorating situation, noting that the conflict has been raging for over a year. It pointed out that “Churachandpur is now fully controlled by the Kukis, resulting in the expulsion of the Meitei community.” A similar situation prevails in Moreh, an important international market. Thawai Mirel has criticized the Indian administration’s failure to manage the crisis effectively, highlighting the lack of support for state forces from central forces.
Thawai Mirel questioned the central forces’ role in the conflict and demanded an immediate cessation of violence. The organization has urged “MLAs and Ministers to address the situation directly by visiting affected areas in Jiribam.” They believe that the presence and active involvement of local leaders are crucial in countering the Kuki narco-terrorists and restoring peace to the region.
