Thanga local authorities reiterates claim

Imphal, July 19: Thanga Zila Parishad, Member and Pradhan along with clubs and organizations of the area held a Press Meet at Manipur Press Club highlight the anomalies regarding the announcement of Tender Notice for Sendra Parking development on July 14 which has been under the care of Thanga public and authorities without any intimation to them. The Tender Notice was issued under the seal of Executive Officer Md. Daulat Khan of Moirang Municipality Council. The spokesperson also expressed dissatisfaction over the imposition of CrPC 144 at Thanga and surrounding areas by District Magistrate of Bishnupur, Bobby Waikhom on July 12 without any apparent reason as the area is not under any tension at present. Appealing to the state government to address the situation before any untoward incident breaks out, the spokesperson also reiterated that areas of Thanga and Sendra Tourist centre has been under the care of the people and authorities of Thanga and should remain so, and no outside authority or party is welcome on the matter.

It's time that historical accounts and administrative boundaries are respected. Illegal encroachments can never be justification for claiming others' land area. As much as Moirang never claim Keibul Lamjao as theirs, Thangas shouldn't claim Sendra as theirs. Period.
