Tension erupted at Itham Moirang Purel area under Yairipok Police station today afternoon after troops of GR (Army) posted at Island area tried to pull up 9 (nine) village guards.
Report reaching here said that at around noon today, troops of GR came to Itham Moirang Purel and tried to pull up nine village guards. On receiving the news large number of Meira Paibi rushed to the site to rescue the village guards. The army personnel allegedly fire gunshots to control the Meira Paibi injuring two including the driver of the vehicle that brought the Meira Paibi. The 9 persons were rescued by the Meira Paibi.
On the other hand, a large number of Meira Paibi from Sekmai area today drive out the personnel of Assam Rifles that were posted in front of Forest Office at Kanglatombi Shantipur area on NH 2 today afternoon. The Meira Paibi are alleging the AR personnel of giving hand to the Kuki militants who use to come out from the Pheilen area.
