Imphal, July 31:

The unabated firing occurring in the periphery between the Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts has left all villagers of the area sleepless night. Even during day time, they are under Damocles’s sword as bullets fired from either Kuki side or the Meitei side landed from nowhere.
This is the story of Pangal community inhabiting in Kwakta, a village located in Bishnupur district close to the Churachandpur district. On Sunday morning at around 8.30 am, 11 years old Alima sustained injury after being hit by a bullet in her right back while she was cleaning utensils at the lawn of her house at Kwakta ward No. 3. Amina presently studying in class 3 at a nearby school is at present undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity hospital here in Imphal.
“I have no idea where the bullet comes”, Almina told this reporter. Besides her, was her worried mother Thoibi, with fear on her eyes. “During the night we can’t sleep and during day time we cannot go out of our houses”, Thoibi told Imphal Times. She said that unremitted firing between two groups at the area has left everyone in the area living in horror.
“We don’t know which bullet from which side will land at our home and hit us”, Thoibi said.
Almina is the 2nd oldest among four siblings, she had an elder brother and 2 other younger sisters. Thoibi said that she is worried about the future of her children as life has been stopped since the outbreak of the violence.
“We use to earn for living on daily wages and due to the ongoing conflict, we are left with no work, Almina father Hassan has no place to work”, Thoibi said and added that the shops too have stopped allowing us to buy essential items as they longer have money to buy. Besides, schools have been shut and we fear sending our children outside our houses.
Thoibi wanted this bloody conflict to end soon. “I earnestly appeal to both sides to end this conflict”, Thoibi said.
