State government writes to MHA seeking air assets

IT News
Imphal, Jan 17:

The state government has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) requesting immediate air assets (helicopters) for the next seven days following the recent unrest in the border town of Moreh, which resulted in the death of one IRB personnel.
Commissioner Home T. Ranjit Singh, in a letter to the Additional Secretary (Police II Division) of the MHA, referred to a previous MHA letter and stated that due to limited resources in the North East region, it is not possible to provide continuous air assets in one place for an extended period. The state government requested specific dates for the availability of the air assets. The letter also highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in Moreh, with continuous exchanges of fire and the death of an IRB personnel on January 17.
The police department has informed about the need for airlifting security personnel and ammunition to Moreh. Therefore, the state government requested the MHA to provide air assets and place them in Imphal immediately, starting from January 17, 2024, for a minimum period of seven days to address the emergency requirements.
