Today marked the culmination of a transformative journey as educators, including teachers and headteachers of government schools, from across Manipur gathered at Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang, Imphal West, for the graduation ceremony of the 10-day Teachers’ Induction Training program. Organized under the auspices of the Star Education initiative by the Manipur Education Department, this ceremony celebrated the dedication and commitment of school headmasters and teachers towards advancing education in the region.
L. Nandakumar Singh, IAS, SPD/SSM, and Director, Education (S); Dr. Wahengbam Nimai Singh, Principal of Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang; and Sujatha Muthayya, Vice-President of Policy and Partnerships at NewGlobe, were among the distinguished guests who graced the event. over 800 teachers and 150 headmasters from 152 schools clad in red T-shirts of Star Education graduated from the program and they expressed commitment to educational excellence. Together, they proudly graduated from the intensive 10-day program, poised to bring positive change to classrooms and communities across Manipur.
In an interview with Imphal Times, Haobam Sarju, a dedicated teacher from Canchipur High School and a participant in the program, expressed her gratitude towards the comprehensive training provided. “The program equips us with essential skills, including positive behavioral management, to navigate the dynamic landscape of teaching and learning,” she stated. Sarju emphasized the synergy between the expertise gained from the Star Education initiative and the academic knowledge acquired through B.Ed and M.Ed programs, highlighting their combined impact in fostering a conducive learning environment for students’ growth and development.
Tingki Ningombam, the Communication Director of Star Education, reflected on the intensity and rigor of the 10-day training program. “The teachers dedicated themselves to learning from 8 am to 5 pm each day, delving into various aspects including class management, technology integration, and effective student interaction, all with a focus on achieving desired learning outcomes,” she explained. Despite initial reservations, trainees emerged satisfied with the depth and relevance of the training. Ningombam reveals plans for a second wave of induction training, building upon the success of the current program to further empower educators across Manipur.
