SSUM suspends agitation on Saiton Govt. high School

Socialist Students’ Union Manipur has suspended its agitation demanding required teachers has been suspended after the education department started sending a teacher to the school understanding the sentiment of the students.

A statement of the SSUM said that after the students’ body launched the agitation on July 31 and it was followed by boycotting the class. On Aug 9 the govt. understanding the sentiments of the students’ body sent a teacher. While appreciating the gesture of the education department the SSUM said that they expect the government to fill up the vacant teachers for Maths , Science and English .

The SSUM, however, threatened intensified agitation if the government authority fails to fill up the other vacant post at he earliest possible time.

The student body further said it is shameful to read the report of the govt. which stated that free and compulsory education has been provided to all when in reality students are demanding teachers to get their education which is reported to have been provided.
