Shameful viral video: One more house of an accused torched by women

One more house of an alleged accused in the case related to the viral video where an unruly mob tortured two women and paraded them naked was torched by the womenfolk of Wangjing area in Thoubal district today morning hours after a police team came searching for him. This is the second house torched by the irate women in response to the barbaric act of the mob depicted in the viral video. Earlier, yesterday a large number of womenfolk dismantled and burnt the house of the accused arrested by the police in connection with the crime at Pechi Awang Leikai under Yairipok Police Station.
Report said that, following the arrest of four persons suspected to be accused in the crime depicted in the viral video uploaded ahead of the Parliament monsoon session, a team of Thoubal police came today morning searching for a person called Laishram Kabichandra @ Singapur ( 20 yrs) son of Laishram Ibomcha of Wangjing Hodamba Mamang Leikai. Following the news, large numbers of womenfolk of the locality dismantled and burnt the house of the suspected accused at around 10.30 am today morning.
Police have so far arrested four persons in connection with the crime depicted in the viral video. Those arrested are – Huirem Herodas (32 yrs) son of late H. Rajen of Bishnunaha presently staying at Pechi Awang Leikai in Thoubal district, Yumlembam Jeevan (19 yrs), son of Y. Ibomcha of Nongpok Sekmai Awang Leikai Arun Khundongbam (31 yrs) son of Kh Ingobi of Sikhong Bazar and Ningombam Tomba @ Tomthin (22 yrs) son of N. Biren of Pechi Awang Leikai. Police are on the hunt for the fifth accused however, before the police arrested the fifth, the irate women folk of the locality dismantled and burnt his house.
Womenfolk (Meira Paibis) of the locality while talking to media persons said that as mothers of the society, such a shameful and brutal act cannot be accepted. A woman said that the women’s community will always stand for the modesty of women no matter if those women belong to any community.
“We the mothers will protect the modesty of women irrespective of caste, creed, and community”, another Meira Paibi said while appealing to the government to act and take action against all culprits without bias.
The womenfolk also appealed to the central and the state government to immediately resolve the ongoing conflict in the state.
