Jiribam, April 25:

A powerful thunderstorm, displaying cyclonic features, struck several areas of Jiribam District on Wednesday afternoon, causing extensive damage to homes in numerous villages.
The pre-monsoon storm brought heavy rains and hail, resulting in leaking and blown-away rooftops, as well as the collapse of thatched homes unable to withstand the force of the wind. Particularly hard-hit were the villages of Sonapur Gram Panchayat and Hilghat Gram Panchayat, where numerous houses were damaged, forcing residents to seek shelter with neighbors.
The entire region experienced power outages throughout the night as power lines were snapped during the storm.
Additionally, several school buildings serving as polling stations for the outer Manipur Constituency in Jiribam District sustained significant damage from the thunderstorm and hail.
