Imphal, June 25:

Important places of Manipur including Serou, Sugnu, and Sekmai, etc. are found missing from the Manipur Map published by the Manipur Remote Sensing Application Centre (MARSAC), Planning Department Govt. of Manipur.
“There seems an intention to the side of the authority publishing the map as important places like Sugnu, Serou, and Sekmai which have been trying to dominant by the armed Kuki militants are taken out from the map”, said Oinam Romen, Chairman of the New Development Organisation, Singjamei told media persons today at Manipur Press Club.
The map was published with sources from the 2011 census report, Revenue Department, High-Resolution Satellite Imageries, Eco & Statistic Department, PWD. Oinam Romen said that when everyone knows that Sugnu, Serou, and Sekmai are important places in Manipur why the govt. authority took it out from the map. It seems a plot if one sees what is happening today, Romen said.
The map was bought by the Secretary of the New Development Organisation, Singjamei O. Bobby for his son.
“I bought it for my son and I was surprised seeing that the map does not have Serou, Sugnu, and Sekmai”, Bobby said. He said that instead of Serou and Sugnu there are places called M. Phaimol, Gunjil, Zalenkot, Khoukual. How could the authority take out Manipur’s important places, Bobby asked.
The map is published in 2022 and an earlier map in 2021 had Serou, Sugnu, and Sekmai.
The government should clarify why Serou, Sugnu, and Sekmai have been removed from the official map of Manipur, Oinam Romen demanded. He said that if there are any mistakes committed by the government authority then appropriate action should be initiated against all those responsible, Romen said.
