Former Minister Ningthoujam Biren has demanded immediate clarification from the Security Advisor of Manipur, Kuldiep Singh for his statement in connection with a rally staged at Churachandpur. Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh had stated that those guns carried in the rally were toys.
Talking to reporters at his official quarter at Lamphel, today morning Ningthoujam Biren said that Manipur is a state under a democratic India. Has the Democracy in Manipur been replaced by Dictatorship in Manipur, Biren said and added that, why the Kuki militants fired towards the Meitei village at Sabhungkhok while the government claims that peace has been restored in Manipur.
Biren further said that during Congress’s government, there were many Ethnic clashes among the Kuki however, the then government solved the issue timely. He said that many weapons have been recovered from the Valley area of Manipur however, there are no reports of recovering weapons from Hill area. He also asked why the Security Advisor had been restricting when the village defenders applied for gun licenses.
