Proscribed group Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) has announced capital punishment to two rapists.
A statement by Assistant Secretary, Publicity of the RPF, Bankim said that the RPF is shocked on the news report that appeared on September 20 at media in connection with the rape of young girl at gun point in front of her father at Takhel Sanjenbam in Imphal East. The RPF statement said that the rapist Khangembam Sanjoy Singh @ Athoi @ Pambei (28 yrs) S/O Kh. Manglemba Singh, Kumbi Setapur, Maning Leikai had approached the RPF three months back to enroll himself as a cadre. Before taking him the said person has been closely monitored. On one occasion due to security problem a 9 mm pistol of the RPF cadre was handed over to him.
On the other hand, Leishangthem Khomei (53yrs), S/O (late) L. Bidhu Singh Haraorok Mayai Lekai, Imphal East, who was detained in connection with a rape case of 2018 was not related with the RPF or its armed wing PLA.
Both the accused of the rape crime had not only ruined the life of two young girls but also maligned the image of the RPF. As per the law of the RPF both the rapists will be awarded capital punishment , the RPF vows.
