Troops of Red Shield Division apprehended 2 cadres of ZUF and one cadre of UNLF in separate counter insurgency operation. A PRO Defence statement said that one ZUF cadre identified as Pouganglung @ Jimmy of Taobam Village in Tamenglong District was apprehended on the intervening night of June 20 and 21. One 9 mm pistol with five live rounds of 9 mm & one magazine were recovered from him. On the following day, i.e. on June 22, another cadre of ZUF identified as Latlungam Gonmei, resident of Laisok village, Khoupum was apprehended from Nungba Village. The PRO Defence statement said that the army number of the apprehended cadre is 105 and is a self-style private. During the operation, extortion notes belonging to ZUF and Rs. 2,100/- cash were recovered from him. Both the apperhendees & the recoveries were handed over to Patsoi Police Station.
At another joint operation launched by troops of Red Shield Division on June 22 in general area New Lamka one UNLF cadre along with one mobile phone was apprehended. The apprehendee was identified as No 413, Batch 1996-97/11 Rank SS Pvt Thounaojam Jinesher singh @ Chikla, age 40 years, s/o Thounaojam Ngouba Singh resident of village Langmeidong,Thoubal district. The apprehendee & the recoveries have been handed over to Churachandpur Police Station.
