At least 6 bombs planted at various places on January 26; 4 reported blast

Even as the state security forces along with the assistance of the central security force have taken up all short of measures to ensure full-proof security for the 73rd Republic Day of the Country after rebel groups threatened to ban it, six bombs (IEDs) were reportedly planted to foil the celebration at various places of the state.
Report said that of the six bombs planted, four blasted without causing any human casualty while one has been detected and picked up state security today morning from a roadside at Canchipur area. Source said that another bomb have also been planted close to the roadside of Heirangoi Thong, however, there are no report of blast occurred.
As per source, the first bomb blasted at around 1 pm near Minuthong in Imphal East on the day when security measures have been tightened for ensuring full security to celebrate Republic Day. At around 9 am, when the state has been celebrating the R-Day at all district headquarters and at state level at Kangla, a bomb was reported blast at Kakching Khunou and aother at 5 m at Wangoo Lamkhai in Kakching district.
The report added that another IED was also blasted at Ukhrul Hundung ICAR Katibung 10:00 a.m.
Till the filing of this report, no individual or rebel group has owned the responsibility of the blast. However, it is suspected that rebel groups operating in the region, which has boycotted the Republic Day celebration may be behind the blast.
