Rare bird released in celebrating the World Animal Day

As a part of Wildlife Week celebration, the 4th October is being celebrated as the World Animal Day.
In connection with the day a fully grown rare female duck locally known as Tingri, english name Whistling teal was released in its natural habitat by the staffs of Kakching Range Office.
The bird was handed over by Naorem Mohendro Singh of Kakching Turel Wangma who save it from his locality. In connection with the program, N. Munal Meitei, Range Forest Officer, Kakching told that all over the country the 66th Wildlife Week is celebrated from the 2nd to 8th October and today is again celebrated as the ‘World Animal Day’ all over the globe since 1929 to raise awareness and welfare status of animals.
World Animals day remind us to unite the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals & wildlife, Munal said and added that this day also remind us to recognise the animals as the sentient beings and full regard must be given to all living beings.
In all religions and faith, it teaches us to love for animals and wildlife but cruelty to animals happened everywhere, Munal said.
