Pseudo Kuki intellectual body sent a fabricated report to the ADB to cancel the construction of the Ring Road in Manipur

Imphal, Feb 5:

An organization called the World Kuki-Zo Intellectual Council (WZIC), which is not registered with any government authority, is attempting to distort all forms of developmental work taking place in the state of Manipur. This group, consisting of pseudo-intellectuals from the Kuki-Zo community, after causing unrest in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Moreh, has now written to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in an effort to cancel the sanction orders for the construction of the Imphal Ring Road in Manipur. The proposed ring road, which is approximately 53 km long, has already received a sanction order of Rs. 1,760 Crore.
This pseudo-intellectual group, which exists more like urban naxals with no registration with any government authorities, attempted to mislead the President of the ADB by submitting a false and fabricated report regarding the ongoing crisis in Manipur. When the crisis began following the burning of the Forest Beat Office by armed miscreants in Churachandpur district, the WKZIC, the pseudo-Kuki-Zo intellectual group, stated in their submission that “the communal state government, which openly supports Meitei secessionist ideas, has been waging war against the ethnic Kuki-Zo community since May 3, 2023, and it continues unabated.” However, the reality is that the Manipur government consists of 10 MLAs from the Kuki-Zo-dominated districts, and they are still very much a part of the Manipur government, with two of them holding cabinet minister positions. The remaining MLAs are still members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly as none have tendered their resignation.
While the pseudo-intellectual body acknowledges that every community in Manipur is suffering, except for the conflicting community, instead of advocating for assistance in restoring peace, they blame the state government and the Meitei community in an attempt to reinstate developmental work for the restoration of peace and harmony in the state. As reflected in the letter, the Kuki-Zo intellectual body rightly points out that all people, regardless of their communities, are suffering. However, the unfortunate part is that these so-called intellectual bodies of the Zo-Kuki community, instead of making collective efforts for peace restoration, have been inciting hatred against the Meitei people. It is undeniable that the government includes two ministers and eight MLAs from the Kuki-Zo community.
In a letter to Masatsugu Asakawa, President of the Asian Development Bank Headquarters, located at 6ADB Avenue, Mandaluyong City, 1550 Metro Manila, Philippines, the World Kuki-Zo Intellectual Council intimidates him by stating that if the amount is sanctioned and released, as declared by Mr. N. Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, the Asian Development Bank will be held responsible for aiding the communal and radicalized Manipur State Government, which has been perpetrating the Kuki-Zo Genocide in particular and the Genocide in Manipur in general.
