A sit in protest was held today at Nagamapal jointly organised by the Khwai Nagamapal Paonam Leikai Meira Paibi Lup, NYDO & Nagamapal Paonam Leikai Singlup condemning the merciless murder of Lucy Marem. Speaking to Imphal Times, one protestor told that even in World War I and II, not a single girl and children were attacked, but in this continuous conflict between Kuki and Meitei, women and children are being targeted by both sides. She urges people to refrain from harming any women or children during the conflict. She added that all 36 communities in the state are suffering as a result of the prolonged conflict between the two communities. So rather than encouraging violence, let’s concentrate on ways to promote harmony and peace.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and all those who knew her during this difficult time. We are deeply saddened and disturbed by this heinous act and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of M Lucy Marem. No words can adequately express the pain and sorrow that her loved ones must be enduring during this difficult time.’
The press release further said that the fact that nine people have been arrested in connection with this crime brings some hope for justice. We commend the swift action taken by the police to apprehend the suspects and urge the authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. It is essential to remember that violence has no place in any society, and this tragic incident is a painful reminder of the urgent need for peace, unity, and understanding among different communities. We stand in solidarity with our Naga brothers and sisters and share their commitment to promoting peace amidst the ongoing conflict.
