Pharmacies in the Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar areas down shutters today in protest against yesterday’s gun attack on a pharmacy in Thangal Bazar here in Imphal.
Yesterday evening, two unknown assailants riding a two-wheeler fired two rounds at Mahalakshmi Pharmacy located in Thangal Bazar under the jurisdiction of the City Police Station. The pharmacy, owned by Ram Nath of Telipati, Imphal East, was the target of the attack. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the firing incident.
City Police Station has initiated an investigation into the matter and has registered a case in connection with the attack. However, the identities of the perpetrators remain unknown at this time.
Condemning the attack, pharmacies in the surrounding areas have taken a collective stand by shutting down their operations as a form of protest. The protest underscores the concerns of local businesses regarding the safety and security of their establishments in the face of such brazen attacks.
The incident has raised apprehensions among residents and business owners alike, prompting calls for swift action by law enforcement agencies to apprehend the culprits and ensure the safety of the community.
