A one-day workshop on, “Intellectual Property Awareness and Sensitization on Patent Filing Process” was held today at the Conference Hall of T. S. Paul Manipur Women’s College.
The event was attended by legal experts, faculties, research scholars, and students eager to delve into the nuances of IPR in today’s dynamic landscape. The hosted by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Research Committee, TSPMWC, aimed to foster a deeper understanding of IPR frameworks and their implications across various sectors.
Shukadev Khuraijam, Patent Lawyer and Partner, Remfry and Sagar (IP Law firm), Kosygin Leishangthem, Nodal Officer IPR Cell, Manipur Technical University and Dr. Sujata Wangkheirakpam, Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology shared their insights on diverse aspects of IPR. The workshop commenced with an overview of the various forms of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Attendees of the workshop gained a deeper understanding of the distinct characteristics and legal protections afforded to each type of intellectual property, along with the importance of developing a comprehensive IP strategy tailored to their specific business objectives and market dynamics.
A significant emphasis was placed on the importance of IP awareness in today’s competitive marketplace. Speakers highlighted the role of IP education and training programs in empowering businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators to recognize, protect, and leverage their intellectual property assets effectively.
