Imphal, Oct 22:

Even as Kishorechandra Wangkhem has been released with reference to the order of the Supreme Court in connection with the detention of Erendro Leichomba, another NSA detainee,  the case of NSA detention is still pending. This has been stated by Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh, Deputy Secy. Home, Government of Manipur to an affidavit submitted to the High Court of Manipur in response to the writ petition filed by the wife of Kishorechandra Wangkhem, Mrs. Elangbam Ranjita.
Kishorechandra Wangkhem was arrested on May 13, 2021 in connection with his facebook posts on the death of State BJP president. He was remanded till May 17, 2021 where he was slapped with the National Security Act (NSA). Interestingly, another activist Erendro Leichomba was also detented on the same day with NSA for the similar kind of charges. Erendro was released on July 23 by revoking the NSA by an order of the Supreme Court. Following the released wife of Kishorechandra, Elangbam Ranjit filed a petition letter to the High Court of Manipur. He was released following the High Court order but the NSA on him has not been revoked.
