Now not the right time to do politics: Heikham Dingo

Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo has emphasized the crucial need for unity and solidarity in the face of current challenges, calling on political figures to set aside their differences and prioritize the well-being of the state. Speaking at a youth convention in the Sekmai Assembly constituency held at the Khurkhul Mayai Leikai Community Hall, he passionately expressed his concerns about the ongoing threats.
Dingo conveyed, “This isn’t the time for political gamesmanship. The appropriate period for politics is during the election season. Our current battle is not amongst ourselves but against narco-terrorists, certain militants from the Kuki community who aspire to establish a separate nation, aiming to fragment and divide our country. We must recognize the gravity of this situation and unite against these adversarial forces.”
He further made a heartfelt appeal, “I urge every individual to unite under the shared conviction that we will not allow a separate administration to form. We must stand firm in this commitment, even if it means risking our lives. This convention serves as a testament to our collective resolve.”
Highlighting the leadership of Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, Dingo called upon the people to rally behind trustworthy leaders in these trying times. “Manipur is at a pivotal juncture and requires steadfast leaders. We must shun the idea of presidential rule now and throw our collective weight behind our chosen leaders to surmount this challenge.”
Dingo reaffirmed his commitment, pledging his relentless support to the youth and women of Manipur in combating the narco-terrorists and any factions striving for a separate nation. “We must join forces to thwart their efforts and safeguard our nation,” he declared.
The convention shed light on several pivotal themes, reinforcing the collective resolve of the attendees. Among the chief topics discussed were the need to present a united front against narco-terrorists, an unwavering rejection of the idea of a separate administration, and an uncompromising stance on preserving the territorial sanctity of Manipur.
A significant highlight of the convention was the attendance of nearly 300 village volunteers. These volunteers represent the grassroots level of society, and their participation is a testament to the shared commitment of local communities to defend Manipur from potential threats. In a powerful moment of solidarity, these volunteers pledged their allegiance, taking a solemn oath to safeguard Manipur against any form of aggression.
In a poignant tribute to the sacrifices made during these trying times, attendees also commemorated the Meiteis who have tragically lost their lives in the ongoing conflict between the Zo-Kuki and Meitei communities. Floral tributes were laid, serving as a heartfelt reminder of the heavy price of conflict and underscoring the urgent need for peace and reconciliation. The convention, through its focused discussions and moving tributes, aimed to instill a sense of unity and purpose among the people of Manipur, urging them to stay vigilant and united in the face of adversity.
