Ukhrul, April 13:

The bustling town of Ukhrul is currently playing host to one of the region’s most anticipated trade showcases — the Northeast Trade Fair Expo 2025 — offering a remarkable platform for global and domestic exhibitors to display innovation, culture, and commerce under one roof.
The expo, which officially commenced on March 27 and runs until April 15, is being held at Ukhrul Town Hall, Phungreitang. Organized by the Northeast Trade Fair Expo Society, based in Kohima, the event aims to strengthen trade and cultural ties by connecting local talent with international enterprise.
Now in its over 18th year, the fair continues to evolve as a dynamic hub for business growth, product promotion, technology transfer, and cultural exchange. “We’re thrilled to bring the expo to Ukhrul for the first time — it’s more diverse than ever and offers something unique for everyone,” said Eno. Abui Newmai, CEO of the Expo Society, during a press briefing.
Open daily from 10 AM to 8 PM, the event has attracted both locals and tourists, drawn by the variety of products and experiences on offer. Exhibitors from Thailand, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Nagaland, Guwahati, Delhi, and other parts of India are showcasing a wide spectrum of goods — from eco-friendly appliances, leather products, handlooms, and Ayurvedic cosmetics to kitchenware, crockery, and indigenous ornaments.
Adding flavor to the event, a dedicated section of the expo features culinary delights — including international dishes and regional food varieties, with a popular Indian restaurant stall drawing particular attention. Prices are budget-friendly, with items like Banarasi paan ranging from just Rs. 50 to Rs. 1,100.
“What makes this fair special is its fusion of culture, tradition, and trade. It’s not just about buying or selling, but about celebrating the Northeast’s rich diversity and connecting it with the global market,” Eno. Abui added.
The Northeast Trade Fair Expo has earned a reputation for being more than just a commercial gathering — it has become a cultural landmark, an annual melting pot where traditions meet trends. For many entrepreneurs and start-ups, especially from remote corners of the Northeast, this expo provides an invaluable opportunity to network, learn, and grow.
Shoppers are encouraged to explore stalls showcasing rare crafts and handmade goods not easily found in mainstream markets, while businesses can engage in meaningful exchanges that may lead to future collaborations or expansions.
As the fair enters its final stretch, the organizers have extended an open invitation to all: “Come witness the blend of innovation and tradition. Feel the difference, and enjoy the spirit of the Northeast,” the CEO expressed.
With its vibrant atmosphere, international participation, and wide product range, the Northeast Trade Fair Expo 2025 is not just a shopping event — it is an experience to remember.
