National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) and United People’s Front (UPF) today strongly objected to any form of defecto separation of administration in the state of Manipur.
Talking to media persons at Manipur Press club today afternoon advisor of NIPCO, Sunil Karam said that when the people of the state are strongly objecting to any form of separation in the state it is unfortunate that the Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh had stated that the Hill area of Manipur will be looked after by the Union government while the valley region will be administered by the government of Manipur.
“We will not accept any form of defecto separation of administration in the state of Manipur”, Sunil Karam said. NIPCO President Oinam Premjit and UPF president Nongthombam Rupachandra also attended during the meeting with media persons at Manipur Press Club.
Both the leaders of the two civil society bodies appealed to all the people particularly the CSOs and Political parties to sort out all the differences and stand up together for a common cause.
“The statement of the Chief Minister soon after returning from Delhi after meeting with the Union Home Minister clearly indicates that there are two administrations in Manipur”, Rupachandra said demanding clarifications if any from Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.
“Chief Minister N. Biren Singh should clarify whether there are two administrations to the people of Manipur”, Rupachandra said.
On the other hand, the two organizations also showed serious concern to the condition of the displaced people due to the ongoing conflict in the state of Manipur.
President of NIPCO Oinam Premjit said that the government should immediately arrange for resettlement of the displaced people who are affected due to the ongoing conflict in the state.
Advisor of NIPCO, Karam Sunil further expressed the organisations’ dissatisfaction towards the handling of Manipur’s issue by the central as well as the state government.
“It is a well-known fact that the ongoing conflict is between the Kuki militants under the suspension of operation (SoO) with the government and the Union Home Minister who had visited the state after 26 days but had not taken any significant measures to resolve the issue”, Karam said and added that it is today open secrete that the armed Kuki militants are being supported by the Central armed force the Assam Rifles.
