Imphal, Sept 13:

The 23rd Foundation Day of the National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) was celebrated today at Manipur Press Club. The programme was attended by Oinam Premjit, President NIPCO, Nongthombam Rupachandra, President UPF Manipur, Hijam Priyokumar, President CADA, K.C. Romio, President Mapi Council and Serto Kom, Vice-President AMSU as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, President of NIPCO Oinam Premjit said, “At this critical juncture of the state, NIPCO pray for peace in the state at the earliest. NIPCO condemns the inaction of the Central and State Government to control the attack by Chin-Kuki Narco Terrorists attacking the villages at the periphery of the hill using bombs and sophisticated weapons. Also, condemn in the highest term, the statement of Committee on Tribal Unity(COTU) and Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) to reimpose the Armed Forces Specials Power Act(AFSPA) in the state.”
The Narco terrorists along with the militants who are in Suspension of Operations with the government continue to attack the Meitei civilians and the Assam Rifles taking side with them openly in attacking the civilians is very unfortunate, Premjit said.
Premjit appeals to the India and State Governments to bring an amicable solution to the conflict at the earliest.
