Imphal, Aug 16:

The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) in Imphal celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day on August 15th, 2023, paying homage to the nation’s freedom fighters and acknowledging the leaps India has taken as a sovereign entity.
The event, held at the NHIDCL Regional Office’s Officers Club Transit Hostel in Lamphelpat, Imphal West, was a testament to fostering unity and upholding the tenets of equality, justice, and prosperity for all, as per a recent press release.
The release further expressed that NHIDCL’s Imphal Regional Office has been a pivotal entity in bolstering and maintaining crucial infrastructure, playing a significant role in enhancing growth and connectivity within Manipur.
In the lead-up to the Independence Day celebrations, the regional office lauded and presented awards to officers and staff members for their exemplary service to the community. Moreover, the NHIDCL’s Imphal branch also highlighted the commendable achievements of the EPC contractors who ensured the Imphal-Jiribam Road (NH-37) remained operational. Their relentless efforts were vital in ensuring the smooth transportation of essential goods and medicines to Imphal, especially during the blockade of NH-02.
The press statement highlighted the challenges faced due to persistent rainfall leading to massive landslides and culvert damage along the Imphal-Jiribam route, which rendered NH-37 inaccessible.
