Neuro Navigation System Machine inaugurated at RIMS

A “Neuro Navigation System Machine” was inaugurated today at CTVS OT Complex, RIMS, Imphal by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director RIMS, Imphal in the presence of Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, MS, RIMS Hospital, Imphal, R.K Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn.), RIMS, Imphal, Sairem Sarat Singh, CAO/FA, RIMS, Imphal and Dr. Th. Gojendra Singh, HOD, Dept. of Neurosurgery Unit, RIMS, Imphal along with all HOD’s, faculty members as well as Nursing Officials and staffs of RIMS, Imphal.
Speaking on the formal inaugural function, Director RIMS, Imphal defines Neuro Navigation as an advanced technology application that is generally used in brain nerve and spinal cord surgery department surgeries. It can be compared to the navigation systems used in automobiles and mobile phones. Neuro Navigation provides guidance to the surgeon during surgery and helps to plan a sensitive surgical approach to the targeted lesion by defining the surrounding nerve and vascular structures. The Neuro Navigation System, which significantly increases the success of brain, nerve and spinal cord surgery, also allows surgeries to be safer. With the use of Neuro Navigation technology it becomes safer which almost zero error and the healthy tissue is damaged at the least level.
