Naming of Nupeelal road appreciated

The Nupee Lal Memorial Association Manipur welcomes the decision to name the road from the traffic point in front of the Governor’s gate to Poreiromba Khongnangkhong as Nupee Lal Road on the occasion of the 84th anniversary of NupeeLal.
This decision comes as part of the month-long commemoration of NupeeLal organized by the Manipur government to honour the courageous mothers who defended Manipur against the British.
Waikhom (O) Bormani Leima, the president of the Nupee Lal Memorial Association Manipur, expressed her joy and gratitude during a press conference today. She stated that this long-standing demand, which dates back to 1997, is a significant and emotional moment for the women of Manipur. Bormani Leima also commended the Manipur government, especially the Chief Minister, for their dedication and concern for the state.
She believes that naming a road in the heart of Imphal as Nupee Lal will help preserve the memory of the brave mothers who fought for Manipur’s independence.
