NABARD and PDDUIAS empower NGO field workers with Robotics and Drone Training

In a noteworthy collaborative effort, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) joined forces with the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agriculture Sciences (PDDUIAS), Kameng, to host a comprehensive one-day training session Monday. This specialized training, titled “Hands-on Workshop on Robotics and Drone Applications in Horticultural Crops,” was tailored for field workers affiliated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The event took place at the esteemed Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agriculture Sciences, Kameng Campus, situated in Imphal East.
This initiative aimed to equip field workers with practical knowledge and skills related to the innovative applications of robotics and drones in the realm of horticultural crops. By fostering hands-on experiences, the training sought to empower participants with a deeper understanding of cutting-edge technologies and their potential impact on agricultural practices.
Ranjit, the District Development Manager of NABARD in Imphal East, provided valuable insights into the significance of the event organized at the College of Horticulture of PDDUIAS. He emphasized the transformative impact of drone technology on enhancing the productivity of both agricultural and horticultural produce.
Reflecting on the evolution of agricultural practices, Ranjit highlighted the shift from traditional methods employed by our forefathers to the present era of advanced agricultural technologies. He underscored how the adoption of various agricultural technologies has significantly elevated production capacity. In articulating the relevance of the training program, Ranjit expressed optimism that it would equip participants with knowledge and a profound understanding of the immense potential embedded in drone technology to boost productivity.
The event witnessed a dynamic showcase of capabilities as a handful of drone makers and companies took center stage, demonstrating the practical applications of drone technology. Against the backdrop of nearby agricultural lands, these skilled professionals showcased the versatility and effectiveness of drones in the realm of agriculture and horticulture.
