MMWO highlights attempts to disrupt Meitei-Meitei Pangal close bonds

Imphal, Sept 9:

The Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO) has asked the owner of the YouTube channel, Drems Entertainment, for a dialogue concerning a video that is alleged to misrepresent the Meitei Pangal community and the Manipuri language.
Boboi Korimayum, President of MMWO, emphasized in an official statement, “The Meitei Pangal community, with its rich history spanning over 400 years, takes immense pride in speaking Meiteilon. We are deeply concerned about the recent derogatory remarks circulating on social media, targeting our community.”
It was underscored in the press release that painting the Meitei-Pangal community as allies of the Chin Kuki by external entities is not only a gross misrepresentation but also raises questions about the intentions behind such actions.
Highlighting the urgency of the matter, the MMWO has given a 24-hour timeframe for the YouTube channel owner to come forward. The organization has also indicated its readiness to pursue legal avenues if the individual fails to respond or clarify their stance.
Concluding the statement, MMWO stated, “The content doesn’t only tarnish the image of the Meitei-Pangal community but also undermines the Manipuri language. This appears to be an attempt to drive a wedge between the Meitei and Meitei Pangal communities. “
