Imphal, Aug 4:

Former rebel leader RK Meghen @ Sanyaima today said that the MLAs of Manipur particularly the Meitei MLAs should announce their stance of Torbung Bangla.
In an exclusive interview with Imphal Times, RK Meghen said that Torbung Bangla is associated with the mythology of Meitei people starting from the Moirang Kangleiron. He said that yesterday’s protest at Torbung Bangla that turn violent over the attempt to the burial of the Kuki dead bodies is a serious issue for the people of Manipur.
“The violence that erupted in Manipur since May 3 under the influence of armed illegal Chin Kuki immigrants is a serious threat to the people of the state”, Meghen said adding that the claim from separate administrations in the state of Manipur is a threat to the indigenous people of Manipur.
The former rebel leader said that Torbung is a place associated with the history of Manipur particularly with the Moirang Kangleiron. This was the place where the race between Khamba Nongban in Moirang Kangleiron was flagged off. Converting the historic site of Manipur into a graveyard is a serious threat to the original people of the state.
“The elected representatives of the people particularly the MLAs of Manipur should declare their stand on this historic place of Manipur.
