Middle-aged man shot at leg by armed miscreants in Imphal West

A middle-aged man was shot at the leg by unknown armed miscreants near Changangei Law College early today morning. He was found critically wounded in his right ankle after being shot by the miscreants. The victim has been identified as Akham Ringo, 50-year-old, son of late A. Lalmani from Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai.
Locals of Changangei in Imphal West district expressed anger at the lawlessness nature emerging in the Manipur society when the people of the state are facing extreme hardship due to the ongoing conflict that started on May 3. Talking to reporters a local elder said that the place has been turned into a gathering site for intoxication and fighting. He appealed to people not to use intoxicants at the place and also to stop any kind of violence in the area.
Talking to reporters, the victim Akham Ringo had told his locality that he had an argument with some people who came in a vehicle. As he threw a stone at the vehicle those from the vehicle came down with guns and took him to the place near Changangei Law College in Imphal West where he was left shooting at his right leg. A police team rushed to the site after being informed by the locals and later taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital for treatment. A case has been registered with Lamphel Police Station.
