MHA directs state Govt. to clear all constructions near BP-76 and 79 along Indo-Myanmar border after pressure from Myanmar Govt.

Following pressures from the Myanmar government, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India has directed the state government to clear all sorts of constructions and piled constructions materials in between border number 76 and 79 at the Indian side. The directives of the Union Ministry was sent on June 4, 2015 stating that all constructions being underway or already constructed between the said border pillars, as alleged by the Myanmar government should be cleared immediately. Source available with the Imphal Times said that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India has strongly directed the state government to demolish the 2 urinal blocks and a garbage disposal bin constructed in the general area of Tamil Sangam temple near Border Pillar No. 78. The MHA letter also stated that the Border Pillar No. 78 is an unsettled Boundary Pillar and constructions of anything are unauthorized at the area, the source added.
On June 17, this year, the state Home department had written the Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district to convert the directives of the MHA before June 25, 2015.
Another source, said that delay to fulfil the demand put up by Myanmar Govt. may hampered the Indian diplomatic strategy to bridge better mutual relationships between the two countries in its mission to flush out North East Insurgents who are allegedly taking refuge inside Myanmar territories.
The source further said that earlier in May this year too, the government of India was compelled to direct the state government authority for demolishing of a house constructed at the Indian side near Border Pillar Number 76. The RITES project manager, which is undertaking construction works of Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Moreh was even forced to clear piled earth near Moreh play ground after pressure from the Myanmar Govt. authority.
