Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has lauded the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) for the successful completion of the Tamenglong-Tousem-Lisang-Mahur Road (NH-137), a 2-lane road with paved shoulders. This milestone comes after the road remained neglected for over 70 years.
Expressing his appreciation, CM Biren Singh took to the microblogging site X to extend gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, for their crucial support in this developmental endeavor. He emphasized the significance of the project in enhancing connectivity across the state.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and the dedicated team at NHIDCL for their commitment and support in improving connectivity in the state,” CM Biren Singh tweeted.
Highlighting the impact of the project, CM Biren Singh noted, “Ending a 70-year period of neglect, the construction of a 2-lane road with paved shoulders for NH-137 from Km 10 near Dialong Village to Km 31 near Barak River has been successfully completed.”
He further informed that key bridges along the Imphal-Jiribam highway, including Makru, Irang, and Barak bridges, have also been completed in recent years, significantly enhancing transportation infrastructure in Manipur.
Earlier, NHIDCL had announced the completion of the project, underscoring their commitment to improving road infrastructure across the country. “We build, you drive, together we thrive. NHIDCL is sincerely completing the construction of a 2-lane road with paved shoulders from Tamenglong-Tousem-Lisang-Mahur Road (NH-137) under package-2 in Manipur,” the corporation stated on X.
