Manipur BJP President meets Amit Shah, discusses current situation

BJP’s Manipur President A. Sharda Devi met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday to hold an extensive discussion on the current situation in the ethnic strife-hit state of Manipur.
During the meeting, Sharda Devi emphasized the urgent need for immediate intervention to bring about a permanent solution and restore tranquillity in Manipur. She conveyed the aspirations of the people and highlighted the ongoing efforts to address the crisis.
“Met Hon’ble Home Minister, Mananiya Shri @AmitShah ji, for an extensive discussion on the current situation in Manipur. Conveyed the people’s aspirations and urged immediate attention to bring a permanent solution and tranquillity to the state, while appreciating the ongoing efforts,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter).
She further stressed the importance of resettling internally displaced persons (IDPs) and providing maximum support for their smooth rehabilitation. “Additionally, highlighted the need for resettling IDPs and providing maximum support for smooth rehabilitation,” she added.
Sharda Devi reported that Amit Shah assured her the Centre is acutely aware of the delicate situation on the ground and is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Manipur.
The ethnic violence in Manipur, which erupted in May last year, has claimed the lives of more than 200 people and rendered thousands homeless. The conflict has primarily been between the hills-based Kuki-Zo people and the Imphal Valley-based Meiteis.
