Imphal, June 25:

Heirangoithong Thongkha Meira Paibi Lup has issued a warning that they will block the road between Heirangoithong and Manipur University if it is not repaired within four days.
In a statement released by S. Romabati Devi, Secretary of Heirangoithong Thongkha Meira Paibi Lup, she stated, “The 170-meter stretch of road from Heirangoithong to Manipur University has long been in disrepair, causing significant health issues for local residents and school-going children. Dust during dry weather and mud during rains exacerbate the problem, leading to illnesses in the community.”
She highlighted the role of heavy vehicles and machinery from “Keystone Infra Pvt. Ltd.” in damaging the road. These vehicles are being used for the construction of the Nambul River’s retaining wall, further deteriorating the already poor condition of the road.
Heirangoithong Thongkha Meira Paibi Lup has met twice with Keystone Infra’s management and the Langthabal MLA, receiving assurances that the road would be black-topped. However, no action has been taken yet. The community has issued a firm ultimatum: “If black-topping is not completed within four days, they will block all vehicles, including school vans and three-wheelers, from using the road,” according to Meira Paibi Lup.
“We will not allow any vehicle, be it a school van, four-wheeler, three-wheeler, or eight-wheeler, to ply until the road is repaired,” stated Heirangoithong Thongkha Meira Paibi Lup.
