Imphal, June 23:

Locals of Kwakta area in Bishnupur district today set 48 hours deadline to all those responsible for the IED blast of Wednesday evening for clarification to the public. The deadline was set in a public meeting held yesterday at Kwakta Bazar.
General Secretary of Meitei Pangal Intellectual Forum, Rafi Shah said the explosion took place at an important bridge connecting Bishnupur district and Churachandpur district.
Four persons are injured in the incident, and the condition of two among them are said to be critical.
The IED explosion took place at Kwakta – a Meitei pangal inhabited area which has become a buffer area between Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts. So far Kwakta enjoys peaceful coexistence with both the communities engaged in ethnic clashes.
The local people inform that a blast at Kwakta should be seen as an attempt to disrupt the peaceful coexistence Kwakta public enjoys with other communities.
The explosion was so powerful that houses located some 200 meters away from the bridge get affected by the splinters.
Central forensic expert along with Indian Army arrived at the spot yesterday and the investigation started. Bishnupur district Superintendent of police says investigations are on.
