Kshetrimayum Yaima Foundation announces International Lifetime Achievement Award for Meiteis Excelling in Culture and Public Welfare

Meiteis residing in various parts of the world who excel in the areas of language, literature, culture, teaching, and working for the welfare of the general public will be chosen and recognized annually by the Kshetrimayum Yaima Foundation with the Kshetrimayum Yaima and Thambam International Lifetime Achievement Award. This announcement was made by Kshetrimayum Subadani, President of the Kshetrimayum Yaima Foundation, during the 28th Death Anniversary commemoration of Kshetrimayum Yaima at the Foundation’s headquarters in Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai.
The Foundation will provide support to writers of short stories, novels, and biographies by assisting them with publication and offering financial aid. Thus far, male writers have already submitted their manuscripts, but no female writers have done so. The Foundation would be delighted if female authors were to submit their scripts. Additionally, this Foundation, established in my father’s name, has plans to work in the field of education, said Subadani.
The Foundation, established in 2022, has been annually organizing the birth and death anniversaries of the esteemed educationist Kshetrimayum Yaima. Educationist Yaima was born in 1905 and passed away in 1995. Throughout his life, he guided students and worked for their well-being.
The event was attended by RK Nayansana Devi, Retired Chairperson of the Manipur State Social Welfare Board, Ngangom Tejkumar, former Director of Prosecution and Legal Advisor of the Foundation, Wahengbam Hemabati, former Principal of Bishnupur Higher Secondary School, and Loitongbam Brajamohon Singh, Social and Cultural Activist. Gururmayum Ibemhal Devi, former Associate Professor of Oriental College, spoke about the life and work of Kshetrimayum Yaima. As part of the event, floral tributes were paid to Kshetrimayum Yaima and Thambal. The Foundation also honored renowned writers of the state, Dr. Thokchom Ibohanbi, Dr. Lamabam Gojendro, and Ibotombi Khumancha, with gifts and cash.
The second part of the event featured a poetry session on the theme of patriotism, led by Dilip Mayengbam, President of ASHEI LUP. A total of 20 writers attended the session.
